Why the Kids’ Choice Awards Felt Rigged, (Even Though Some Of My Favorites Won)

Last night’s Kids’ Choice Awards left me feeling a bit conflicted. On one hand, I was happy to see some of my favorite stars win, like Selena Gomez, Benny Blanco, and Sabrina Carpenter. They definitely deserved their spots, and Ariana Grande’s performance in Wicked was absolutely stunning. Ariana truly deserved all the recognition she got.

But on the other hand, I couldn’t shake the feeling that the whole event was a little… rigged.

I mean, how do you explain the fact that some huge fan favorites like Kylie Cantrall, Jace Norman, and Brooke Monk—didn’t take home an award? As a Disney girlie, I was rooting hard for Wizards and honestly didn't expected Kira Kosarin to win. Congrats to her, but I really thought Wizards had it last night.

And don’t even get me started on Mr. Beast winning Favorite Creator. That honestly feels off. From what I’ve seen, a lot of people actually dislike him, so how does that add up? That part made me genuinely mad.

To be honest, I didn’t watch the entire show, I was multitasking and ended up watching a Hallmark film instead. And I’m actually glad I did. The more I thought about the KCA’s, the more I questioned how fair the voting really was. After all, the whole point is that fans vote for their favorites, right?

Maybe it’s just me, but I’m definitely skipping the KCA’s rerun on Nickelodeon. I want to see true fan favorites win, not surprises that don’t feel authentic.

Still, shoutout to the stars who truly deserved their wins! It was great to see some real talent get recognized.

Here’s hoping next year feels a bit more genuine, and maybe a little less rigged.
