The “Bark Like You Want It” Trend Is Taking Over TikTok... and I’m Scared

Posted: June 29, 2025

Okay so... TikTok has officially lost it — again.

If you’ve been scrolling lately, you’ve probably stumbled upon a video of someone acting like a dog. Like… actually imitating a dog. Proud. Dog-mode activated.

It’s called the “Bark Like You Want It” trend and yeah, it’s exactly what it sounds like.

Basically, someone acts like a dog (no shame, full commitment), and another person either joins in or reacts. It’s funny. It’s weird. It’s ✨peak TikTok chaos.✨

Now, here’s where it gets… complicated.

If it’s two girls joking around? Slay.

If a guy telling his girlfriend to do it? Umm… suddenly it’s giving red flag 🚩 real quick.

Like sir, why are you commanding her to act like a dog? We’re not in a kennel.

So yeah, context is EVERYTHING.

And honestly, this is one of those trends that’s fun to watch from the sidelines… with the volume down.

Would I do it? Absolutely not. My fight-or-flight kicks in just watching.

But I could totally see someone like Sabrina Carpenter doing it ironically, especially since it kinda fits the energy of her new album Manchild. The drama. The chaos. The unhinged-but-make-it-art.

Anyway, if you’re debating whether to hop on this trend, here’s the Gen Z survival guide:

💬 If it feels ick, don’t post it.

🤡 Being cringe is fine, being weirdly performative cringe is not.

🧠 Use your braincell. TikTok trends are wild, but don’t lose your dignity for the algorithm.

👀 It’s okay to just observe. Not every trend is meant for YOU. (And that’s okay.)

So yeah… unless barking is in your personal brand (or your star chart), maybe skip this one.

Watch, laugh, move on.

And remember: don’t bark like you want it... unless you really want it.
