Chatgpt have released a new tool called geotool which is a location tool that is used when you upload photos to Chatgpt. The tool simply reveals where the photo was taken from, the city, and location you were where the photo was taken. It's a little too much if you ask me. You can read a bit more on my LinkedIn page: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/katelan-undefined-5b624b2b4_chatgpt-new-geolocation-tool-could-endanger-activity-7318997297969692672-QVp-?utm_source=social_share_send&utm_medium=android_app&rcm=ACoAAEt_qZoBoKPIe4PydSFYIq2XKX_9le-lh-U&utm_campaign=copy_link
How Dangerous Is This Tool?
It's as dangerous as saying, a hacker or a stalker can simply stalk you or find where you live around the world, without your knowledge. That's how dangerous it is.
Just imagine uploading a photo to Chat and a hacker in the database retrieves it, then they can simply narrow down where you live around the world. It's that simple.
What Should We Do?
My best suggestion is don't use any new tools on Chatgpt regardless of how tempting it might seems. I know some of the tools can be helpful, but you really don't want hackers to know your personal info and especially where around the world you live, to steal from you.
As for me, I will not be using any new tools from Chatgpt for this sake and stick to use a camera and my phone camera if needed. The safest tool would be your old fashioned camera.
